When I decided to run for U.S. Senate on March 7th, I got in because I knew our campaign’s grassroots support would be second-to-none. And this past Friday, our grassroots leaders proved it in a very public way.
We won the highly-watched straw poll at Fairfax County Chair Gerry Connolly’s annual St. Patrick’s Day party Friday night, with 58% of attendees supporting our campaign for the Senate. And this came after only our first 10 days in the race – right in our primary competitor’s own backyard! I was surprised -- and even more deeply motivated -- by the support of Virginians across the state.
